BIRTH DOULA |
As your doula, I will meet with you and anyone else from your birth team between 4 and 6 times during your pregnancy. This time is to allow for us to develop a relationship and to thoroughly discuss your options and specific wishes for your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
I am here to help you throughout your pregnancy with nutrition, exercises to benefit your changing body, and to aid in handling the multitude of new (or perhaps familiar if this is not baby number one) experiences that you will no doubt encounter on this journey. I will provide a safe and judgement-free space for you to discuss any concerns, difficulties, or uncertainties that you may be experiencing. I will also provide you with resources and options to aid you in issues that are outside of my scope. If you like, we will develop a birth plan to share with your care provider to be sure that we are all on the same page about your wishes. In addition, I can be informative or reassuring for birth partners, helping them prepare to help you! I will be on call for your birth, and will be with you for your labor as much or as little as you wish. The appropriate time for your doula to join you is not the same for each family- it looks a little different for every birth. Throughout our meetings, we will devise a plan that fits your specific needs! After delivery I will stay with you for 1to 3 hours. During this time, I can assist with replenishing nourishment, baby bonding and breastfeeding, and getting you settled in and as comfortable as possible to recover and enjoy your baby. Into your postpartum time we will meet 1 to 3 more times as needed. I will provide assistance for you with your basic postpartum needs, breastfeeding, as well as knowledge and additional resources to aid in your transition. These meetings can also be a great time to process or discuss your birth experience. After that final meeting, it is a joy to keep communication open for questions, concerns, stories and pictures! I am deeply honored to be a part your birth experience!
