BIRTH DOULA |
Your Consciously Born Doula will meet with you and your partner (or anyone else who plans to be a part of your birth) between 4 and 6 times. This allows you to develop a good relationship and to thoroughly discuss your wishes for your experience.
Your doula will help you throughout your pregnancy with nutrition, exercises to benefit your pregnant body and various routine tests that takes place during your pregnancy. With the help of your doula you will develop a birth plan before you go into labor and discuss sharing it with your doctor to ensure that everyone is on the same page before delivery. While a birth plan is not concrete, it is a great tool to see your desires on paper and easily communicate them to your care provider. Your doula will be with you for your labor and delivery as much or as little as you wish. The appropriate time for her to join you is not the same for each family. Throughout your meetings, you will devise a plan that suits your specific needs. After delivery your doula will stay with you for up to 3 hours to assist with replenishing you with nourishments, baby bonding and breastfeeding, and discuss your incredible experience if desired. Into your postpartum time you will see your doula up to 3 more times. Assistance is provided for you with your basic postpartum needs, breastfeeding, and anything else to aid in your transition. After that final meeting, our job is never over. We enjoy keeping communication open for questions, concerns, stories and pictures. "We are honored to be a part of your life experience and you are stuck with us." While you will work with the doula of your choice, in an extreme situation where she is unable to attend your birth the other Consciously Born doula will step in to assist you. You will receive the continuity of care as we are very like minded individuals and hold the same values when serving our families. We encourage you to call the backup doula at any point in your pregnancy for a good conversation and meet her if desired.
