Chadwick Thompson, Mother of 4 Being Mom to Thaddeus, Piper, and Saffron, and Poetry is my absolute favorite adventure. In addition to my family, I am passionate about cooking, art, dance, gardening, and all things creative. I consciously practice caring for the earth, my loved ones as holistically as possible. I am also certified yoga teacher with 500 hours of training. I feel that this creative and holistic base has greatly helped shape my thoughts surrounding pregnancy and childbirth. I believe that creating a better world begins with birth.
My path to becoming a doula began in 2010, with my first pregnancy. In hiring my own doula I was able to get the education and support necessary to realize our natural birth in the hospital. I found pregnancy and birth to be deeply beautiful. Empowered by my own birth experience, I was inspired to help other women to have empowering experiences as well. I became certified as a doula in April of 2013 through Birth Works of Central Arkansas. That same year, I welcomed my second child into the world through the water at home. Since becoming a mother and doula, I have also gained over 10 years of experience with full term breastfeeding, childbirth education, and variety of placenta services. I believe that birth is a natural and normal process, but also a sacred and transformative experience for birthing people and their families, in which they deserve to be supported informationally, emotionally, and physically to actualize their best potential birth experience. Through this supportive role, the journey of pregnancy, birth, and entry into motherhood is something I am honored to be a part of. Whitney Waggoner, Mother of 3
***Whitney is not currently accepting clients*** My interest in birth began in 2009 when I became pregnant with my first child, Cedar Waxwing. Throughout pregnancy I familiarized myself with the miracle of growing this beautiful creature and the process of bringing her into the world. My home birth, despite it's challenges, was a beautiful experience that enriched the already strong relationship that my husband, since 2004, and I had. I am a strong believer in family centered births that involve all elements of the unit that will look after and love the new addition to the family. Immediately after the birth of Cedar I became interested in serving women and families during their pregnancy and childbirth. I was lucky enough to land myself in Birth Works, an established company in Central Arkansas that certified doulas as well as provided various birth services (www.birthworksAR.com). I became certified through Birth Works and have practiced with this reputable company since 2010. Having my son, Otis Rain, 3 years after the birth of my first further instilled my confidence in the birthing process. Through knowledge gained from my previous birth experience and informative support from my surrounding Birth Workers, I really grasped the importance and necessity of education for having a baby. Especially with birth, knowledge is power. I trust a mother's body to confidently bring a new being into her arms but I have seen the advantages of support and loving touch of a doula. Each birth will have it's own unique hurdles to overcome and the presence of a supportive team that you can trust can make what ever comes your way part of the miracle of your birth. I am thrilled to be partnered up with Chadwick in our own little grass roots birth service. She is a loving mother and powerful woman to be walking arm and arm with and I look forward to serving EVEN MORE women and families with her. We practice together, strongly rooted in our beliefs of the power of birth, and vow to bring you honest, proud, and tender care. I'd say my main hobby, aside from childbirth and motherhood, is performance arts. I am a (semi) professional stilt walker and thoroughly enjoy the art of movement and dance. My family of four is also currently developing land and building our own (as much as possible) self-sustaining home. I appreciate any hard working individual or family and would love to entertain the idea of a trade of services. I feel like what we have to offer is our own form of currency and I enjoy the pieces of art, deer meat, tattoos and other trades that I have made as much, IF NOT MORE, than money received.
